The proceeds from the 2017 race will go to a young man and his family to assist in paying off medical bills. here's a short summery of how Conner is doing from his parents:
"Conner Christenson is a 16-year-old young man who has been inflicted with much as a result of an auto immune disease that began affecting him the last six years or so. As time progressed, Conner has suffered with debilitating musculoskeletal and joint stiffness with severe losses in his ability to move without great difficulty. He underwent a multitude of tests and has been assessed by many doctors who have come up with working diagnoses including dermatomyositis, centrally maintain vestibular dysfunction, Vertigo, dizziness and failure to thrive.
The most recent turn for the worse occurred two and a half months into his 2016 school year. Conner started to develop vertigo, dizziness and difficulty maintaining an upright posture due to high pulse rate, extreme weakness and fatigue. Today, he is still compromised by a sense of his world moving even when he is completely still. He continues to struggle with whole body stiffness, walking and participating in activities with his family and friends is still extremely difficult. He is working ever so hard with home therapy that has been prescribed in hopes of helping him reestablish normal nervous system, immune system and musculoskeletal system function."
